In this undergraduate seminar, you will extend your critical and rhetorical skills beyond the classroom into the world of community action as you think about writing as an instrument of social change. By volunteering at a local nonprofit agency for multiple hours each week (2 hours onsite, additional hours to do writing), you will learn about the nonprofit world and research a specific community issue or problem. Your experiences onsite and in the classroom will provide a framework for the writing you do both for your community partner and for classroom assignments. For participating community organizations for Winter 2012, please see Community Partnerships list.
